Questions worth asking early.
Clear boundaries are part of the protocol design.
Is Value Accord a cryptocurrency?
No. It defines interoperable messages and proofs; it does not introduce a coin, token, or blockchain.
Does Value Accord hold money?
No. The sandbox uses in-memory test balances. A future implementation would coordinate licensed or otherwise authorized providers without making the protocol a custodian.
Is this intended to replace Visa or banks?
That is not a current claim. The project explores whether a neutral coordination layer can improve interoperability across existing and emerging systems.
What is a Value Packet?
A signed, expiring, single-use object that binds a payment intent to a route and its participants.
What happens in a refund or dispute?
The sandbox records explicit state transitions and receipts. Real-world rights, timing, and liability would depend on provider rules and applicable law.
Can I use this with real money?
No. The current software is a research sandbox only. No real funds are transferred.
